Webb and Walters Stomp Their Authority at Sandstorm

The young beach volleyball sensation, Ryck Webb, and his partner, Christopher Walters, put in a masterful performance to defeat the formidable pair of Tristan Hitchman and Tafarie Samuels 21-16, 21-17 in the finals of the Sandstorm beach volleyball tournament held at Aquasol Beach Park in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Sunday 05 April 2015.

Webb and Walters, who are preparing to represent Jamaica in the 2016 Rio Olympics Male Beach Volleyball Qualifiers in

Trinidad from 08 – 10 May 2015, used the tournament to test their readiness. “We still have a lot of work to do,” stated Webb. “We are missing Gatashue Bonner, who would normally put us through the rigors of our training regimen but to have won today is a good thing. We will now refocus on working on our beach fitness and refining all the basic skill sets necessary to win on the international stage.”

Oliver Reid and Alex Talgio, the only pair to have beaten Webb and Walters in the Preliminary Round, defeated Kevin Williams and Omar Williams for third place. The top two teams were awarded with medals and J$20,000.00 and J$12,000.00 respectively prizes, while Reid and Talgio were presented with bronze medals. Webb and Walters also won day passes to Secrets Resorts and Spas.

Meanwhile, Conrod Lowe and Michael Munoz ended the tournament in fifth place; Warrenton Dixon and Oral Channer ended an impressive sixth; and Roan McGrowder and Peter Yen finished seventh.
